Joseph
Rescigno
For 38
seasons, beginning in 1981, Maestro Rescigno
served as Artistic Advisor and Principal Conductor
of the Florentine Opera Company of Milwaukee (WI).
In addition, he
has conducted symphonies, concertos, operas and
oratorios, from Bach
through contemporary works, in the Americas, Asia,
and Europe.
Engagements include such companies as the Montreal
Symphony and the New
York City Opera. He has made seven recordings – Beethoven, Brahms,
Mendelssohn, Mozart, Verismo, Joruri and Río de Sangre.
Maestro Rescigno's book, Conducting
Opera: Where Theater Meets Music, has
been published by University of North Texas Press
(2020).
As
part of national press representation for Maestro
Rescigno, Nancy Shear
Arts Services worked with the Florentine Opera to
publicize the world
premiere production of
Río de Sangre,
an opera by Don Davis (with a libretto by Kate
Gale, in a Spanish
translation by Alicia Partnoy), and subsequently
represented the Albany
Records recording on CD.
